If you are interested in having us design or create a map we will need certain information in order to price or carry out the work.
1. What is the purpose of the map?
A short answer will usually suffice. It may be, for example, a reference map, a location map, or a graphic needed to explain or support an accompanying story.
2. Who is the target audience?
To communicate effectively we need to know who we are trying to communicate to.
3. How will the map be presented?
This is important. Maps are designed differently for print and digital media. And if the map is to be displayed as part of a datashow presentation, we may have only seconds to get our message across.
4. What is the geographical area of interest?
Please clearly indicate the geographical area to be included on the map.
5. What are the required map dimensions?
Is there a preferred orientation? (portrait or landscape)
We need print dimensions in mm x mm. Is bleed required around the edge?
For a digital map we need dimensions in pixels.
There may be other questions, depending on the type of map and the use to which it will be put. We recommend prospective clients read our Terms of Trade.
