The New Zealand Ministry of Culture and Heritage commissioned Geographx to draw a series of maps representing the political situation at the outbreak of war in 1914. A total of 22 maps focused on nations aligned with the Central Powers (Germany, Austria—Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, Bulgaria), the British Empire, and the Allies who fought alongside them against the Central Powers. The maps were styled in keeping with the era represented and designed for both web and print publication. The full series can be viewed at the NZ History Online website
